House Transportation Committee invites stop405tolls.org rep to speak

Last week the state Senate Transportation Committee held a public hearing on bill SB6152 to make several of the changes we are looking for.  See the King 5 report.

Thanks to all of your signatures, I (David Hablewitz) have been asked to participate in a panel working session with the House Transportation Committee on HB2312, an identical bill to that in the Senate.  This session is open to the public to observe.  But unlike a public hearing, this working session does not provide an opportunity for public comment.

First a panel of WSDOT staff and Mark Hallenbeck from TRAC at the UW will give their presentations.  Following that will be a panel of 3 that will provide different perspectives on the ETL implementation and prior development; these panelists include:
Claudia Balducci, King County councilmember (and former mayor of Bellevue, during the I-405/SR 167 corridor planning development)
Justin Leighton, the executive director at the WA State Transit Association
David Hablewitz, systems analyst/architect and spokesperson for stop405tolls.org and representing the 29,000+ people so far that have signed the petition calling for an end to the toll.

The meeting is scheduled for a total of 2 hours.  The first hour will be the panel presentations and Q&A.  Each panelist will give a 5 minute presentation followed by 30 minutes of questions by the committee members.

Date: Thursday, January 28
Time: 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Location: Hearing Room B in the John L. O’Brien building on the capital campus

In response to the We are seeing a rise in the rate that people are signing the petition with this announcement.  Keep spreading the word with everyone you come in contact: sign & share. (click the buttons below to share)

Regarding the website we used, if they are shy about signing there, click the button at the top of the page that says “About the Petition Site” for an explanation. Know that John Carlson of KVI 570 signed it and endorses signing it. If they still don’t want to, that’s fine. Click the button to download and print a paper copy and mail it in. That is a bit slower and doesn’t add to the tally online, but it still counts!

Your reference to HB 2312 is for a past bill. This is the one I think you were after:
