As King5 News reported today, the bill has been drafted  to eliminate the I-405 Express Toll Lanes. You can read and follow the bill in the State House of Representatives on the WA Legislature website.  The single most important thing you can do is call your 2 state representatives and your 1 senator and demand  that they support this bill to eliminate the tolls. (Remember they work for you, you are their employer.)

Since we have many new legislators, their information will not appear on the state website until they are sworn in in January.  If you have new representatives or are unsure, call them at the toll-free Legislative Information Hotline at:

Call between 8:00am – 4:30.  If the line is busy, please try again.  The woman who answers the phone is very nice.  Ask her to deliver your message to your legislators.  She will ask for your name, address and phone number.  Then your message to them. If you aren’t sure what to say, use this:

“Please support House Bill 1030.  Please eliminate the express toll lanes. They don’t reduce congestion.  Please call me back so I can give more details.”

The one most powerful methods of influencing them is with a phone call.
Emails and petitions are nice, but none of that comes close to the impact of a simple phone call.  And legislators cannot ignore when their phone is overwhelmed with people calling in on one issue.  Don’t be shy, they are just everyday people like the rest of us and they do like to hear from their constituents to know what they want.
