Renton, if you think you’re getting another general purpose lane… Think again.
If this bothers you, let your 3 legislators know. That is the only way you will get it changed. You can call and leave them a message via the legislators’ HOTLINE at 1-800-562-6000 (TTY for Hearing Impaired 1-800-635-9993).
If you really want to express your feelings about it, call each one of your 3 legislators and speak directly to them. If you don’t know who your legislators are, you can find who they are and their phone numbers here. Here are their email addresses. Don’t forget to contact your mayor too. They meet with state officials who make these decisions.
Yup. $1.3 Billion ($1.1 B gas tax; $0.2 B toll bond proceeds from tolls from Tukwila to Lynnwood) and no new general purpose lanes, Bellevue to Renton! That is your legislature deciding with Rep. Clibborn, Chair, House Transportation Committee, (D), 41st Leg. District, as the Chief Decider – WSDOT is just the implementer here. And the bond holders for the $0.2 Billion will have covenants that will prohibit future additional capacity increases to preserve the toll revenue to pay off their bonds.

This is the reason I am leaving the state of Washington. I was born here however, the unruly taxation is going to bankrupt this state. I can’t afford to stay here as we are retired and any increase in salary is peanuts. A great number of my friends are also leaving the state and they made a great more than I did. I am also surprised that this state can toll a Freeway payed mostly by the Federal Government.
I think if President Trump finds out about this sort of shenanigans he will threaten the state by withdrawing funds for roads, bridges and the like.

This makes me sick.I guess none of these legislative reps have ever rode in a car with a crying kid or a car sick kid. Do I have to bring someone to suffer with me to ride in these 3+ lanes? 2 of them? Why not 1 lane 2+ and 1 lane 3+? Or just add an extra lane for everyone!!! The carpool lane is never crowded now, why another one? Money money money money money

Hasn’t anyone heard of rapid transit? I suggest giving 2 lanes to rail, subways or trains.Washington needs to think ahead rather than trying just to catch up. Were to late to exspand roads we need to
think like our European friends.

What a joke. The 405 has way too much traffic to be limited to just two lanes. This is why I will continue to use the HOV lane as a GPL every day. They have no way to enforce it anyway.

[…] Toll Lanes are an unequivocally proven failure. Puget Sound Regional Council, the organization that develops policy for transportation in the region, has retreated from their plan to toll all lanes of all highways. Yet WSDOT forges onward. I-405 south of Bellevue is NOT GETTING ANY NEW GENERAL PURPOSE LANES. The HOV lane is going to be taken away and replaced with a toll lane and an additional toll lane will be added.
