Keep the faith. Proof that we are moving the needle right here and our senators are working for us. Senators Dino Rossi, Guy Palumbo, Mark Miloscia, Mark Mullet, Ann Rivers, Tim Sheldon, Kirk Pearson, Hans Zeiger have all sponsored SB 5707 Authorizing the replacement of Interstate 405 express toll lanes with a general purpose lane and a high occupancy vehicle lane. This is the companion bill of HB 1030 in the House sponsored by Harmsworth, Young, Griffey, Rodne, Shea, Hargrove, Orcutt, Hayes, Stokesbary, Stanford, Buys, Schmick, Muri, Haler, Pike, Pollet.
First, I am grateful to all of these senators and representatives for taking a non-partisan, active leadership role in listening to the needs of the people and responding in unity to address this solution. I ask everyone reading this to follow the links to their names and call or email them to share your gratitude right now.
Second, thank you, yes YOU, for contacting your legislators (call them now if you haven’t already) and for signing the petition (sign it now if you haven’t already) and for sharing this with everyone around you (share it!). Like in Dr. Seuss’ book Horton Hears a Who, only through our collective, persistent voice can Olympia hear us.
But wait, there’s more! This is just one step. There are many more in this journey. Keep on communicating with your own representatives and senators and ask them to encourage their counterparts that sit on the Transportation Committees to allow these bills to move forward out of committee. If you haven’t contacted them yet, now is your turn. Each of us must contribute our voice.
